What is Fantom?
Fantom (FTM) is an open-source, fast and scalable smart contract platform. The platform is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and this means that all smart contracts can interact with Ethereum. Because Fantom uses the Directed Acyclic Graph protocol (a newer way to do fast and cheap transactions), no new blocks need to be created. New transactions can therefore be constantly added to the chain. The FTM tokens are used for a variety of purposes, including on-network fees, payments, and decentralization.

The history of Fantom
Fantom (FTM) like many other currencies has had a slow start, with a price that once stood at €0.0038 per FTM, it is therefore a project that has experienced significant growth. On November 9, 2021, Fantom even hit an all-time high of no less than €2.73 per coin.
To get here, Fantom had to innovate a lot. Not only is Fantom's blockchain very fast, secure, and cheap, but the system also uses the new Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) algorithm. This algorithm is unique and very innovative. Since other blockchains such as Ethereum have often had to deal with overcrowded order books and high transaction costs, alternatives such as Fantom proved to be a good option.
In addition, Opera (Fantom's blockchain) is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and the Cosmos DSK (an open-source framework for blockchains).
