Cardano

What is Cardano?

Cardano is a multi-layer smart contract platform on which the currency ADA is operating in the ‘settlement layer’. Decentralized applications, or dApps, together with smart contracts operate in the second layer called the ‘computational layer’. Separating these two important layers of Cardano enables the team to modify components of the settlement layer, like the consensus protocol without disturbing the computational layer and vice-versa. Cardano uses a Proof of Stake model called Ouroboros to reach consensus on the network.
