What is Litecoin?
Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency that uses a Proof of Work consensus algorithm to verify transactions. It was created in 2011 by Charlie Lee, a well-known computer scientist and crypto evangelist. Litecoin is one of the first cryptocurrencies developed after bitcoin, which explains the similarity in the protocol. The main difference is that Litecoin has faster block times and lower transaction fees - which leads to faster transactions.
